Hakuna Matata at Rockaway Beach
Here are a few comments from our past guests:
Exceptional!
The townhouse is lush and
expansive, and all the appointments are top shelf, from the furniture to the
delicious and numerous fleecy blankets to the beach chairs with built-in shades.
I have rented many vacation homes over the years and this is the first that
offered unlimited bathroom toiletries, tissue boxes, microwave popcorn ... and
also the first that didn't have an "Owner's closet -- KEEP OUT!" sign
on a padlocked cabinet. We felt like we were visiting a friend's home -- we
felt welcomed -- and the owners clearly wanted us to feel that way, to truly
feel at home. Nothing was overlooked, nothing was missing, and everything was
brand spanking new -- the dishes, the towels. I am a clean freak, and this home
was spotless. Not a mark, not a crack, a smudge, a stain, a scratch or speck of
dirt anywhere. We loved the waffle iron, the dual reclining chairs in the
living room, the fat binder of information about the area's attractions and
places of interest, the gas fireplace, the Wii, the ipod dock, the killer
surround sound system on all floors, the kites and the decks overlooking an
expanse of beach beyond our wildest imagination. Every day we vowed to go
exploring, but we were just too darn comfortable to leave! I almost hate to
gush like this because I don't want to compete to come back, but this home and
its owners rate all the superlatives I can muster. Thank you, Hakuna Matata! We
hope we'll see you again soon!
Fabulous condo in great location
We visited in late
September with another couple to celebrate our retirements. The condo was
beyond our expectations. Beautifully furnished and so well equipped that we had
everything we needed at our fingertips. Cooking in the gorgeous kitchen was a
real pleasure and made our stay with good friends even more relaxing. It is
clearly a loved family home that is shared with guests. They have thought of
everything with lots of amenities for children/teenagers. Great location with
fabulous views and steps to the long ocean beach for walks. I even found a
whole sand dollar! Easy drives to other sites of interest in the area. We
especially liked the location because it was not so touristy as other areas of
the coast. Great weather - but we know we were very lucky for late September.
Couldn't be happier with our stay. We will recommend to our friends and family.
Another wonderful trip to the coast
This
was the second trip that my husband and I made to Hakuna Matata, but the first
trip for another couple that we brought with us. Needless to say they were just
as thrilled with the location as we were. The owners have really taken the time
to make this property hotel quality in terms of cleanliness and appearance,
while not having the sterile cookie cutter feel that most hotels have. My
husband and I have been renting on VRBO for 6 years, and this is by far the best
property we have stayed at. I love to cook, and the gourmet kitchen is
phenomenal and well stocked. There are plenty of matching dishes (we have
stayed at places where it looked like the dishes and furniture were pieced
together from garage sales) and everything appears really new and very clean.
The beds are comfortable (we've stayed in both rooms) and the bathrooms are
well appointed. The TV and sound system are also fantastic too. With all that
said, the real clincher is the view and proximity to the beach. We loved being
able to look at the ocean and hear the waves and have enjoyed long walks on the
beach. The town of Rockaway itself is nothing much to write about. However, a
trip to Cannon Beach is just a half hour drive away. After making that trip for
dinner for the first time, I have to admit that I don't really see what the
draw of Cannon Beach is (besides the dining). It is fun to look in some of the
shops - but it is oh so very crowded and we went on a rainy winter day. The
beach is crowded, the stores are crowded, parking is crowded. Just not what I
think of when I think of getting away. For me, I'd rather stay at Rockaway
where a winter walk on the beach you might pass 2 or 3 couples the entire time.
So, if you like a sleepy restful town over a tourist trap Rockaway is the way
to go. And, you can always drive up to Cannon Beach! If you are new to VRBO -
what are you waiting for? It really doesn't get better than this and after 6
years of renting we have not regret it once! There are some places we
wouldn't rent again - but it was still a steal over a hotel. And, this is a
place we would definitely return to in the future.
Relaxing get-away
We
rented this wonderful oceanfront condo to celebrate our daughter's birthday.
There were 4 of us, my husband and I, my daughter and her friend. It is truly
right on the beach. The shore was wonderful to wade in, to walk along the sand
and to light a bonfire and enjoy smore's. The photos and description are not
enhanced, they are true to reality. This is a clean, well maintained property
that is wonderfully decorated with many artsy touches that made our stay
comfortable. We were pleasantly surprised at the many thoughtful comfort items
that were available; George Foreman grill, decorative serving dishes, useful
spices and condiments, a fully maintained kitchen. Beach chairs, movies, games,
everything you would need for a wonderful week away from home, but not away
from the things that are entertaining and useful. We enjoyed taking the little
train ride and walking through the little shops in town. Loved the tour of the
Tillamook cheese factory. Wished we had gone through the aviation museum. Our
day at Seaside was fun filled. A great time was had by all. We established the
only difference between laughter and daughter is one small curve. Hakuna
Matata!
A slice of heaven on the beach
We had a wonderful
time in Rock Away. This condo was perfect, its location was steps from the
sand. Just a 15 foot walk across a driveway and down a little hill into the
soft sand. The views and sound of the ocean right out the back door was
wonderful. The beds are very comfortable, nice quality bedding and beautifully
decorated. We enjoyed sea-shelling on the beach, walking to various shops and
restaurants and enjoying the views. The small town of Rockaway was quaint and
close to many other sightseeing attractions.
